Today is the first Sunday of the month which means that the shops are open in Denmark. Hoorah! I am more accustomed to having supermarkets that are open 24 hrs, 7 days a week. So this is a pleasant occasion where convenience comes first and I don’t have to premeditate about what I need to survive the weekend.
None the less, I have come to respect the slow and sleepy Sunday’s that predominate most of the year in Denmark. People are forced to do something more creative with their time. Its a reminder that we are being swallowed up in a sea of consumerism….
